R.I.P. Shawn Mortensen

Sorry about the lack of updates, just got in from Coachella yesterday.  Photos and recap coming soon...

Last week, one of my favorite photographers, Shawn Mortensen passed away.  Mortensen is responsible for many iconic images of rap artists in the early 90s, and continued to shoot musicians, artists, ad campaigns and lookbooks.

p&s

So, an ongoing project I have going on is titled "Point & Shoot" (soon to be renamed, "Spend it all!!") where I simply document my daily happenings, the places I like and the people I love.  Just got back my film today...
Casey's been working on a series of photographs using disguises, and we had fun with a few back at the studio.

Ike reopened the Parlor after hours, they got a new game in the back.  The sound of points racking up and basketballs slamming against the wall at 5am is frightening.

The next day, it was way to gorgeous not to be outside.  LA has completely spoiled me with this weather.

Sunday, I worked on the AFI album packaging/publicity shoot, shot by Jason Odell.  We shot at Pete's at the Brewery/OTMFC, a studio at the Brewery downtown.  Its a dope studio, and the owners consist of an amazing group of people that ride Harleys and play soccer.  They live upstairs in a loft, underneath, have a dope art collection and soundstage.

It was a long day, but afterwards, met up with India & Gaby and went to Crown Bar to celebrate Justin's birthday.  India wasn't into it.

Midweek, had to finish up shooting a project.  Casey helped me make it rain.  Weezy makes it look easy.
Following Saturday, had to go to the hot ass valley to check out a couple of framers, then hit up India to see what she was up to.  Turns out she was on a pub crawl, and I met up, and soon had to pull some Fast & Furious moves while following Nicks truck through Santa Monica.

To all of my fellow Senior Show participants...

Mine would be all gold...

Recently i've been in a creative rut, however when I see photographs like
JeongMee Yoon's  Pink & Blue series, I really get inspired and see all of the possibilities photography has.  Yoon visited the childrens rooms, rearranged their colored toys and accessories by size, and shot the child in their environment with a 6x6 Hasselblad.

May I borrow $44k and an Enzo, please?

Stick your stunna shades on?

Designers Azumi and David designed the sticky glasses, called Stick To Your Glasses. It is the sunglasses type, you can stick it to your T-shirt, head or eyes. Via Like Cool

first.

All of the cool kids are doing it, and I just hopped on the bandwagon (creating a blog was a first before I begin to Tweet..or "Twat" as Stephen Colbert would say).  So welcome.  A venue where I can share my photography, interest, and all around dope stuff I find on the Interweb.

So its me, Prince Hakeem and my Bloggity Blog for the first in many Friday's that I've stayed stayed in.  FML.  I'm off to create my Twitter account now.
